Amelia Sanches, 86, passed on October 26th surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Brava, Cape Verde, she was a daughter of the late Antonio Tavares De Pina and Paula Sanches.

Amelia walked in love and her presence left a lasting imprint in every single person that she came in contact with. With her you felt a nurturing sense of belonging, she loved with an open heart. Her generosity, resilience, and commitment to her family is her lasting legacy.

A jornada de “Nha Melia” foi de Amor. A sua presença deixou marcas profundas em todos que a conheceram. Com ela sentíamos uma aconchegante sensação de pertença, ela amava com o coração aberto. A sua generosidade, resiliência, o seu compromisso com a família é o seu eterno legado.

Amelia is survived by eight children, Mariana Simas, Antero, Antonio Sanches (Olga), Helena Coutinho, Madalena DeAndrade (Andy, Silvia Carosi (Peter), Odelisa Louro, (Jose), Jack Tavares (Jacky) Paulo Tavares (Chrissy), three sisters, Pedrina Sanches, Fatima Martins and Rizete Gomes, twenty six grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. She was the mother of the late Jorge Carlos Tavares and sister of the late Manuel, Clotilde, Davinia and Arminda.

Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:30am with a service at 10am in the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln. Burial will be in Mt. St. Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5pm until 8pm.
